In pursuing [its] objectives, the NAB will reflect the wishes of its constituent member associations, adopt a constructive attitude in its dealings with other organisations in the racing industry and, where appropriate, act in tandem with them for the common good.
The National Association of Bookmakers (NAB)
The National Association of Bookmakers (NAB) is the biggest UK association of individual bookmakers. It is supported by nine regional affiliated associations that represent independent off- and on-course bookmakers in the UK (England, Scotland and Wales). The NAB represents its members in the following five committees:
- British Greyhound Racing Fund
- National Joint Pitch Council
- Local Joint Pitch Councils (Nationwide)
- 49’s Committee
- Bookmakers' Committee to the Horserace Betting Levy Board
Objectives
The NAB strives to ameliorate the image and status of the bookmaking and racing industry (especially horseracing and greyhound racing) and to defend the interests of its members. It gives practical help and advice to individual bookmakers and its affiliated area associations. One of the NAB’s main objectives is to ensure that the interests of on- and off-course bookmakers are treated equally.
The National Association of Bookmakers is one of the founding members of the Federation of Racecourse Bookmakers (FRB), the other two being the Rails Bookmakers Association and the Association of Racecourse Bookmakers. The FRB is an umbrella organization that covers the three above-mentioned organizations and acts for the interests of all racecourse bookmakers.
