The Off Shore Gaming Association (OSGA) is an independent "watchdog" agency that monitors the Offshore Sportsbook, Casino and Poker Industry in an effort to provide the public with information if they choose to wager online.
We are resolved to keeping the philosophy that there are safe places for online entertainment. Because of the climate in the industry today people need to have additional information on offshore sportsbooks, online casinos and Internet poker rooms from an outside source. An educated consumer needs to know where to gain conclusive information for online gaming.
The OSGA is a US-based organization that was founded in 1998 by a former manager of a bookmaker company.
OSGA is a Limited Liability Company (LLC), so the shareholders are not liable with their personal assets. The organization is, however, partly financed through donations that can be made via the company’s website.
The main purpose of the OSGA is to control bookmakers and to mediate and settle disputes that occur within the still largely unregulated online gambling industry. On the OSGA website, you can find examples of disputes that could be settled thanks to the Association.
After an in-depth check of the off-shore bookmakers, online casinos and poker rooms, the OSGA issues a quality certificate to the company. Only a small number of the many gambling companies inspected by the OSGA are labeled “ELITE” sportsbooks on the OSGA website. Among these are, for example:
Here you can find a list of all the bookmakers controlled by the OSGA.
The OSGA is a professional, independent, non-biased third party organization that provides its customers with an objective assessment. The Association’s employees form their opinion through detailed investigation and countless phone calls, even news stations such as ABC.com, MSNBC and the Wall Street Journal rely on the information provided by the OSGA.
Over the last decade, the OSGA evolved into an enormous organization that predominantly advocates for its customers. Therefore, customer service is one of OSGA’s main priorities. In order to become a full member of the Association, one has to register online. Members benefit, amongst other things, from toll-free service numbers and their complaint mediation has priority.
Furthermore, members have access to the OSGA-forum, where they can allow free play to their thoughts and comment on companies providing online gambling facilities.
OSGA strictly opposes the efforts of the US legislature to make online gambling illegal. The Association is also involved in research on gambling and its effects on the US population and strives to make the gambling industry achieve a better reputation.
On its web page, the OSGA calls on its customers to no longer sit around twiddling their thumbs but to voice their opinion. The OSGA is convinced that everybody has means to contact senators and congressmen in order to prevent a ban of online gambling. The “Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006“ that prohibits the transfer of money between US banks and credit card companies to internet gambling sites, is, of course, also a thorn in the OSGA’s side.
