Caritas Internationalis is a confederation of more than 160 Roman Catholic and social service organizations that was founded more than 100 years ago by the Catholic Church. Caritas offers help for the poor, the vulnerable and the excluded and works on humanitarian emergencies and human development.
The organization’s first years consisted of providing food and clothes to victims of the First World War. Today, Caritas is about more than daily survival. Of course, it is still famous for being there before, during and after a disaster, but the field of function now also includes sustainable development, HIV care, peace building and migration. Apart from countless social care programs, help is also offered to individuals in terms of life coaching as well as family and marriage counseling. Caritas members are able to reach more than 24 million people a year in 200 countries and territories. Even though in most countries Caritas is supported by the Catholic Church and public funds, around 25% of the annual costs are financed through donations.
If you are searching for a reputable and reliable charity, why not help strengthen the international confederation of more than 162 national Catholic charities that serve people of all faiths? Visit Caritas Internationalis or your country-specific Caritas website and donate online via credit card (Diners Club, MasterCard, Visa), cheques or bank transfer.
