Switch

Switch was a debit card introduced in 1988 by Midland Bank (now part of HSBC), the National Westminster Bank and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

In 2002 Switch merged with Maestro!

The company then known as Switch Card Services Ltd, which was responsible for the management of Switch, was licensed by MasterCard for the distribution of Maestro in Great Britain.
Since mid 2007 Maestro cards have been issued in place of Switch debit cards!

Since then Switch Card Services Ltd has been renamed as S2 Card Services and is responsible today for the coordination and management of the Maestro as well as the Solo card systems in British banks.
