Nordic combined SkiingIn GeneralAs in Cross Country Skiing and Ski Jumping the FIS organises the races in the Nordic Combine. This series of competitions happens once a year to wit from November till March. Since 1983/84 the winner of the overall World Cup has been ascertained. An important additive of the World Cup is the "Warsteiner Deutschland Grand Prix", which is specially rated. As in the Tour de France, the leader of the overall World Cup receives a yellow jersey as well. The season consists of 12 segments, whereby two competitions are always held on one venue. During seasons of Olympic Games or the Nordic Ski-World Cup this number decreases. Points system of the Nordic CombineFor rating the performance in the contests the FIS points system is used. For determining the overall ranking of the World Cup, for each athlete all points of the single races are added. In the sprint valuation only those points are added which the athlete gained in sprint-races. Since 2002/03 the winner, regardless of the venue, gets 100 points, the runner-up 80 and the third 60. The 30th ranked athlete gets one point, everybody below misses out on points. |
