Total sports betting

The Horserace Totalisator Board, better known as The Tote, is one of the largest and most experienced British bookmakers. The Tote runs more than 500 betting shops and has branch offices at all of the most established British race tracks and is still the only organisation in the UK officially allowed to operate as a totalisator (a system which runs parimutuel betting). The Tote was established by Act of Parliament in 1928, the purpose of which was to offer on-course pool betting on horse racing. On the one hand, this was to provide an alternative to price betting with bookmakers and on the other hand this was a good way to raise money for “purposes conducive to the improvement of breeds of horses and the sport of horseracing.” All bets of a particular type are placed together in the so-called tote pool, which is then shared among all winning bets. This means that the final pay-out is not determined until the pool is closed at the end of the race.  In 1972, The Tote was finally permitted to handle bets on all sporting events and thus operate as an official bookmaker. Since 2002, the two different branches Totesport and Totepool can also be found online at Totesport.com. At Totesport you can place your wagers online, by phone, by sending a text message or you can go to one of the numerous betting shops and place your bet personally. Totesport is operated by Tote Credit Ltd. and licensed in the UK.

Bets Offered

Totesport provides odds for every sporting event. Golf, hockey, football, tennis, baseball, basketball, rugby, cricket and darts as well as horse racing and greyhound racing are only a few of Totesport’s markets offered. The current selection is constantly extended and new betting options are made available all the time. All in all, Totesport has a nice range of alternative wagers, for example over/under, handicap and half-time bets as well as bets on the top goal scorer or total goals in football. In darts, for example, it is possible to bet on the next world champion. Live bets are accepted for sports such as snooker, darts, rugby or cricket at Totesport and fortunately there are also a number of alternative bets available. Apart from handicap and half-time bets you can also bet on the 1st innings lead in cricket and on the lead of the winning rugby team.

Casino, Games and Extras

Totesport only runs an English version of the website where you will find not only a sportsbook, but also the nice Totesport Casino and a huge gaming section, where players can find all their favourite classics such as pinball, but also slots, bingo and various arcade games like “Deal or No Deal” and Cluedo. Totesport’s information box is full of little extras for passionate sports bettors. Totesport Radio relays the latest news from the world of sports, with a focus on horse and greyhound racing and of course football. All important events are broadcast live and at the end of the day, experts analyse all the races and games that took place. Under Football Statistics, bettors can look up all the scores and more information about all of the most important British, European and international leagues. Bettors who are interested in horses and greyhounds, should go to Racing Form & Results where they can compare results and read up on upcoming races. With "text betting," registered Totesport users have the ability to place their bets via a text message directly from their mobile phones.

Because of the current legal situation in the United States, which does not allow American banks and credit card companies to transfer funds to online bookmakers, Totesport does not accept bets from members residing in the USA.
