Costa Rica International Sports BetCRIS was founded in 1985 as the first offshore bookmaker in the Dominican Republic. The business started out as a simple call center for enthusiastic customers wishing to place bets on sporting events over the phone. Soon thereafter, their reputation grew and today, BetCRIS is regarded as one of the most popular bookmakers worldwide. In 1993, the company moved its headquarters to Costa Rica and became fully licensed by the Costa Rican government. BetCRIS offers bets on sports like baseball, basketball, hockey, tennis, motor racing, soccer, boxing, cricket, handball and volleyball. Furthermore, BetCRIS also provides wagers on mixed martial arts and horse races. In addition to the usual betting options, BetCRIS offers various alternative bets such as over/under and half-time bets. They also accept bets on the exact outcome of certain sporting events and you can bet on the winner of various leagues in a variety of sports.
Live bets are currently available on soccer, hockey and tennis.
Apart from the sportsbook, BetCRIS also offers its customers a corresponding casino, where passionate players can enjoy themselves at virtual tables as well as at slot machines. A first-class poker room, where you’ll find all your favorite poker variations like Texas Hold'em and Omaha, is also available in the BetCRIS software. Another interesting part of the BetCRIS website is the unique category called “Office Pools,” which offers the excitement of sports betting with a minimal risk ($ 1 bis $ 100). In this betting variation, you’ll randomly be assigned two numbers, one for each team in a match. If your number combination matches the final score of each team, you win the pool. In case a BetCRIS user doesn't have access to a computer to place a bet, he or she can also use the "Mobile Betting" option and make a wager over their mobile phone. The website also offers sections on the latest “Sports News” and “Stats and Trends.” With these informative sections, visitors to the site can keep up to date about current sporting events and their results and even check various statistics, such as which players may be injured. The BetCRIS website is available in English, Spanish and Chinese. Even though the “Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006” (UIGEA) outlawed transferring money between American banks and credit card companies and online bookmakers, BetCRIS initially continued to accept wagers from US residents. Recently, however, BetCRIS ultimately made the decision to no longer allowed bets from the United States. Nevertheless, BetCRIS has not turned its back on its former users in the United States. Betters from the US are now referred to a new online sportsbook at bookmaker.com, which was founded in 2008 and belongs to BetCRIS. There, users can log in with their BetCRIS usernames and passwords. Not only can players residing in the US place bets there, but they can also play casino games and enjoy themselves at online poker tables.
